As a nurse practitioner at Sanitas, I’m part of a medical team that sees the patient as a whole. I care about their different cultures and enjoy speaking with them in their preferred English or Spanish. Nursing is very rewarding for me. My patients understand that their wellness plan is a partnership with all of us communicating, planning and working together. Ours is a supportive environment where I get constructive feedback, that can transform my day and make me feel very productive and cheerful. I was born in Cuba and grew up in Pinar del Rio. I came to the U.S. seeking a brighter future for my family and myself. I chose a career in medicine to improve the lives and health of others and to help those who are suffering. I’ve always felt strongly about being involved in improving the health of my community. Going into family medicine provided the opportunity to take care of the entire family, which I enjoy, especially the diversity of patients with different medical problems. On my days off, I enjoy shopping and working out, which helps keep me healthy and motivated for my patients.
