Sanitas to open first NJ center in collaboration with Horizon BCBSNJ
Sanitas Medical Center, an independent health care organization, will open the first of three medical centers in New Jersey on Monday during a ribbon cutting ceremony in collaboration with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
The first center will open in Union City and will take Horizon BCBSNJ members, self-pay and Medicare patients. According to a Sanitas spokesperson, the new facilities are being funded solely by Sanitas, while a Horizon Connect retail center will be located next door to the new facility. Sanitas, which has 11 medical centers scattered throughout Connecticut and Florida, also plans to open facilities in Jersey City and Belleville next year.
Sanitas is also set to open its 10th location in Florida next year as well.
Sanitas, which offers both primary and urgent care services, began in 1980 as Colsanitas, an insurance company in Colombia. In 2014, it partnered with Florida-based health solutions provider GuideWell to open its first three medical centers in Florida.
