As a nurse practitioner, my patients feel heard, understood, and supported. My patients can speak with me in my native Spanish or in English. Taking time to address their emotional needs fosters trust and rapport, which helps our care plan collaboration. I realize the power of human connection and the impact it has on both patients and caregivers. When I meet a patient who, despite battling illness, shares a smile or a personal story it’s a good day at work. Born and raised in Cuba, I came to the U.S. for political reasons and now live in Miami. I chose nursing as a career because I wanted to help others and make a positive impact. I have a deep sense of compassion and empathy for individuals in need and a belief in the importance of health care as a fundamental human right. When I’m not working, I like listening to music and reading. I also love to be home taking care of my family.
