Medical Center Focused on Culturally Relevant Care Opens in Tampa
Sanitas Medical Center brings new health care patient experience to Hillsborough County with convenient, multicultural personalized care.
TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa is now home to a new multicultural health care facility with the opening of Sanitas Medical Center on Dec. 1. The new Sanitas Medical Center is tailored to provide culturally relevant health care focused on patient convenience and personalized care. The medical center, located at 3617 W. Hillsborough Ave. between N. Dale Mabry Highway and N. Himes Avenue., will address patients’ day-to-day health care in one location with convenient hours to serve the needs of working families.
Hillsborough County has seen its Hispanic population grow by more than 50 percent since 2000, according to recent U.S. Census data. Sanitas Medical Center offers a unique care model to address the linguistic and cultural needs of this community.
Doctors and staff will provide primary care, select specialty care, comprehensive urgent care, laboratory and diagnostic imaging services as well as educational programs in wellness and disease management.
Sanitas is a strategic joint venture between international health care leader Organización Sanitas Internacional and Florida-based health solutions innovator GuideWell Mutual Holding Company.
“We’re excited to bring our model to the diverse community of Tampa with an approach to health care that is both comprehensive and highly personalized so that our patients find in us a medical team who knows you, speaks your language, guides you and cares for you over the long-term,” said Dr. Fernando Fonseca, CEO of GuideWell Sanitas. “Our expansion in Tampa will continue to build upon our success in Miami as well as over 40 years of experience providing quality care in South America.”
Sanitas introduced its innovative care model in the United States in Miami last year with three medical centers serving the needs of a growing diverse community. Tampa is its first expansion within Florida.
“Sanitas will help address multicultural medical needs and disparities in care by bringing high-quality, culturally relevant health solutions to Tampa,” said Dr. Prakash Patel, Chief Operating Officer of GuideWell. “This transformative approach to health care offers a new way for the community to access comprehensive care in a more personal and approachable way.”
Sanitas Medical Center accepts all Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, traditional Medicare, and self-paying patients.
