As a Cuban physician with 14 years of experience, my work as a registered nurse involved taking care of adults. I was the director of nursing for a home health agency for several years before I became a family nurse practitioner in 2022. My oldest sister was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 11, which is when it became my goal to study medicine and help people, particularly those who are sick as she was. I’m a husband, father, and son––so when I’m not at work, I love being with my family, who is very important to me.
