As a nurse practitioner at Sanitas, I care for my patients in any way I can, making sure they get the help they need. To me, a good day at work is when I’ve spent time with a patient, tended to their needs and know I provided relief for their ailments. A “Thank you” for treatment and finding a solution for their concerns is always nice. Being Latino in a diverse population in Nashville gives me valuable insight into our patient population and helps me create relationships because I speak both Spanish and English. Born in Cuba, I moved with my family to Tennessee when I was young, and I lived there until I moved to Houston two years ago. Medicine has always intrigued me. Each time I learn of a new condition, I’m interested in its cause and how it’s affecting a patient. I want to help the Latino community so they have an ally who understands them and can help guide them to a long, healthy life. When I’m not at work, my wife and I enjoy taking our dogs on a walk. We also like traveling and are looking forward to our next trip.
